What it does
I configured Hermes Agent to handle recurring homelab work from WhatsApp. In this recording it inspects the infrastructure, proposes a plan, and waits for my yes before creating a Debian container, installing Docker, setting up DNS, and recording the changes.
The video keeps the inventory patch error and its recovery, followed by my own DNS, SSH, and Docker checks. Waits are accelerated and held frames are labelled. The English AI narration uses Gemini's Charon voice, with English captions available. This is a selected successful run after ten practice attempts; per-command approvals were disabled.
The plan approval matters, but the controls have limits. Hermes proceeded while the IP reservation was still ambiguous, could rewrite its own change log, and retained root access through the hypervisor. Those are engineering gaps to fix, even when the server comes up correctly.
How it is built
The article explains the sandbox, API wrapper, approval policy, and root SSH access. It separates the 29 model calls through the summary from three later calls and includes the per-call usage data.
